If you are still trying to get over the shock of the Panamera, feast your eyes here on Porsche’s newest offering: the Boxtser Spyder. Rejoice: this is what Porsche enthusiasts will salivate over. Launching at Los Angeles Motor Show in December, it harks back to the original 550 Spyder, while hinting at the rather more recent Carrera GT. At last a minimalist, lightweight sportscar to drool over. Porsche’s lightest offering in the range at 1275 kg, will zing to 100 kmh in 4.8 secs, using it’s 10 bhp advantage over the standard Boxster S’s to get there in a blinding flash. Before you get too excited about it’s lack of lagging lead, consider this: the original 550 weighed a mere 550 kg….

Clearly though, it’s aimed at rain-free climates as the aesthetics go awol once the tent contraption of a roof is erected over the beautiful, Carrera-GT-like rump. You won’t want to be seen driving around with the canvas up, complete with sun-awning (BBQ anyone?!)
